Listening to your body is one of the best things, and one of the hardest things to do.  Yes you need to push yourself to get the most from your body.  But, you need to be honest about it.  Do you have pains, and owies, or do you have injuries.  You need to be able to recognize the difference.  Pains you can push through, same with owies.  But if you have an injury, you need to listen to your body and give it some time.  Again, this doesn't mean that you completely stop moving and let yourself just lay there for weeks.  Worse thing you can do!  But it does mean you need to modify what you are doing either by movement, weight, or repetitions.  Do you know the difference between being tired and being fatigued?  Tired is having a long day at work or school.  Fatigued is when you are mentally and physically wore out.  Life is tough and tiring so you will always be tired.  Don't let that stop you from training.  But if you are fatigued and you are mentally and/or physically thrashed, then give your self some rest.  It could be that you need to get away from the gym for a couple days or a week.  It may mean that you need to ensure that you get enough sleep at night for a handful of nights....not just one.  Maybe you need to do an exercise that is more for enjoyment rather than for high intensity.  So listen to your body.  It talks to you everyday and it will say what it needs.  Give it what it needs and it will give you what you need!
