Why do we do such a difficult movement like the snatch at the INFERNO?? Remember when we look at being a FIT human, we need to have a high level of aptitude in all 10 of the Physical Characteristics. The Snatch, which is an Olympic Lift, incorporates many of those 10 characteristics. There is Strength as you are trying to lift the bar off the ground, trying to generate as much Power by accelerating your hips open and gaining as much Speed as possible through that second pull, the Coordination to move the heavy bar up quickly then pull yourself under it, with Accuracy, at just the right time to keep the bar weightless for that split second, Flexibility in your shoulders to keep the bar close to you as you pull yourself down under the bar and get it locked out over your head and finally Balance while you sit and stabilize the weight over your head before you stand up. That pretty darn good for 1 lift! Is a functional movements? Yes! It is another lift in which you use your hips to generate momentum on the bar and get it moving up so that you can pull yourself under it without having to stop it at your shoulders. It is moving an object from the ground straight to overhead. There are plenty of times you will do this. So do not get frustrated with this move today. Concentrate on the movement and the key elements. Have fun with it!!!
