Was the swim at the Games long enough?  Why the HELL was a softball throw in the Games?  These were some of the things I heard about the a few of the events.  First, for those who thought the swim was too easy were all lifeguards, triathletes, or swimmers.  Now of course this wasn't really very far but that's not the point of the event.  Same thing with the softball throw.  The world's fittest athlete should be able to do EVERYTHING well.  Swimming is a functional movement with real life applications.  Softball throwing is a mixture of coordination, agility and timing.  Now I didn't hear any of these people say that the snatch weights were so weak and minimal, even though by Olympic Lifting standards the weights were pretty light.  By themselves, they will not crown the fittest athlete on the planet. But when you put them all together, the most well-rounded athlete was shown.  Only when you have events like these sprinkled into the Games can the fittest be crowned.  Great job to CFHQ for designing the events they did!
