When we talk about what our training does for people, we talk about function. We talk about fitness. We talk about a "General Physical Preparedness". What exactly does that mean?? We want our athletes to excel in movements and actions that mimic movements in real life. These will make up the majority of our workouts. They are movements that start from the core of your body and resonate to the extremities in the arms and legs. These movements have the ability to move large loads, long distances, quickly. This moves into our next part which is fitness; increased work capacity over broad time and modal domains. The more proficient and efficient you are at functional movements, then the better you will be at increasing your work capacity. Work is just weight moved a certain distance. The faster you do it, the more power is generated. We will switch up the time frames, the movements, and the circumstances on you so that you are used to all of these variables. This will help to train all the metabolic engines in your body, not just one. Now, this can sound all scientific (which there is science backing all of this), but the main point is to make you better to handle, and ready to do, any task that is life related, work related or sport related. This is "General Physical Preparedness". The point is to make you more athletic, increase all the areas of physical characteristics so that you are that much more effective in life. NO, it will not make you the best runner, lifter, football player, gymnast, firefighter, mom, nurse, etc but it will bring your level of athleticism up in all areas which will help you in all of the occupations, sports or lifestyles listed above.
