I hear people talk about "cardio" all the time.  What to do, when to do, and what it is.  Most people think that cardio is RUNNING, or in most cases....jogging.  What cardio really is is the body using oxygen to help with the fuel reactions for energy in the body.  Basically, you body is using big muscles that are working hard and they need to release the CO2 and pick up more Oxygen.  Since your body needs more of this because of the work, you start to breath harder as you are working out.  You body really doesnt know if its running or doing a weighted wokout.  Sure it knows that arms maybe involved but its not like it says "oh today he/she is running and yesterday he/she did Freddy's Revenge.  So how do you increase your "gas" then?  Do you go run some more, since thats cardio right?  No!  what you need to do is when you workout here you need to go as hard as you possibly can.  Keep the least amount of rest as possible.  Take smaller bites of the workout so that you are able to keep going.  Its easy to stop during a metcon. You are tired so its easy but it seems different when you just plain stop when running.  Make the metcon your running....dont stop!  Minimize your rest, hit them harder and you WILL increase your gas and your "cardio"!
