Everyone comes to the INFERNOs with different fitness goals.  Sometimes they may not be able to actually explain what the goal is but its there.  But if you arent sure about yours, then the next time you are kicking back sipping your coffee in the morning, think about it.  Many people think that competition determines whether you are a crossfitter or not.  Competition does NOT determine this.  If you are involved in CrossFit training, then you are a crossfitter!  Now for those that want to be a competitive crossfitter, you again need to figure what your goals are.  There obviously are many many many opportunities out there to get yourself involved in a basic competition.  If you want to see what its all about and have some fun, then pick anyone and get in there:)  For those that want to make this something that you do, and have high aspirations of competing, then dont limit yourself.  I have seen so many people do a scaled or modified division so that they could win it.  This doesnt make sense to me.  Im not saying that it isnt great that there are these levels for those that want to have some fun, but those that want to be a competitor, you need to put yourself in the big kid pool.  One of the first lessons, not being afraid to get your ass kicking in a comp.  Once you are not worried or afraid of this, then you can put all your brain, effort and energy into the events.  Next, just because you cant do a movement doesnt mean you shouldnt do that division.  Now if you look at the movements and weights and they are all way over your head, then no you shouldnt do the RX division yet.  But if you are off by 1 or 2, then get in there.  Some of you may feel that you arent an RX competitor, but if you have hopes and dreams of competing at the Regional level and beyond, then you NEED to get yourself against the big kids as much as possible.  The biggest and most competitive competition out there is the Regionals and the Games.  So if thats the goal then stay out of the scaled events.   Remember, crossfit is divided into "the Sport of fitness" and the fitness program.  Which side of the fence are you on?
