There's a line we see.  We know where it is.  We know when we get close to it.  It stings.  Doesnt matter what area im talking about.  You pick it: workouts, work, school, life, etc.  When we get close to that line, it hurts.  Many people decide to move away from the pain.  Its uncomfortable.  But if you can hang out there a little longer than those around you , then you will see that you are the only one there.  If you are the only one there, then you are the winner.  This could be the winner of the event, or you pass the test, or you can the play that instrument.  In CrossFit we hear it all the time:  being comfortable with the uncomfortable.  Can you do it? Can you see the line?  Can you feel it?  Can you take it?:)
