I was talking to this guy who does CrossFit.  He is a former SEAL.  He has battled around the world. He has moved himself to different places in the US.  He has motorcycled arcoss half the southern hemisphere.  Through all his time before and now, he only worked out one time a day.  Is he a Games athlete? No.  But yet he is one of the most badass people i know.  He told me that he has NEVER come across something in his life, a physical task, that he wasnt able to decently.  How can someone like this only workout once and be such a stud?  Well ok yes there may be some genetics, and i agree there is some mental toughness that helps him to accomplish what he does.  But whats more important is that he trains for life.  He trains for a General Physical Preparedness so that he can do all of the things that life is required of him.  But what about the Games?  Its a manufactured, artificial test that is above and beyond what life would give you.  So the training they need to do is above and beyond.  Does this mean that you if you want to compete that you shoudnt push hard, and do different stuff?  Well what it means its that you need to train to get you to your goal.  If you like to do regular local style comps, you really dont need anything different. I can tell you right now that our workouts are plenty demanding for you.  Being that we have only about 15% of members that do the workouts Rx'ed leaves plenty of room for improvement for everyone.  Sure there might be some personalized stuff you need to improve on yourself but remember your training should match what you are wanting to achieve.  If you arent planning on going to the Games, then you shouldnt have a program that is matched up to what a Games athlete is doing.  If you want to be a badass, then in your training you should be able to push to accomplish that badassery everyday  you train.  Pick your path and smash it!:)
