Have you ever played the lottery?  I don't do it all the time but every time I have, I would always slide into an imaginary world for just a moment.  I imagine what it would be like to have all that money.  All the fun things I could do, the things I could buy, the things I could see, etc.  But then what really is the chance that it will happen?  Hundreds of millions to one.  Not very good odds, but that doesn't stop me from playing.  So if there was something you wanted to do but the chances of you winning were slim to none, would you decide not to do it?  Would you only choose to try it if you could win?  Well, guess what my friends, there is only EVER one winner and a bunch of other "non-winners".  Let's say you want to compete in CrossFit.  Maybe a local comp, or even make it to the Games.  Obviously, the chances between those two options are very different.  It's easy to sign up for a local comp.  Just do it before it fills up.  But to make it to the Games you have to make it through the 2 pre-qualifying steps.  You might make it, you might not.  You still should give it your best shot if its something you wanted to do.  What if you aren't strong enough, what if you aren't fast enough, what if you aren't young enough?  So what!  Don't get discouraged because you are missing this or that!  Be stoked that you going for it!  Think about how fun it will be to step onto the stage and compete!  If you decide not to do it because the chance is low, then you will really miss out on some of the greatest stuff life has to offer!!:)
