Life is a series of highs and lows.  We all crave those high moments.  They are when we are happiest and it sucks the worst when we are in the lows.  But I think that if we ride thes highs and lows then we become slaves to these rolling hills.  I say slave because then all we are hoping for are "good things" to happen.  Almost like the outcomes are totally independent of us or what we can do.  Have you ever caught yourself saying something like, " damn it!  nothing goes right for me!!!"  A comment like this is giving the world around you control of whether you are happy or not.   Did we win, did we get, did someone do, did this happen, etc.  We don't have any of the control.  The world has control and we are just tagging along.  However, if WE decide what things will make us happy or sad then WE get to determine our position.  We actually get to tag our emotions where we want to.  So when they say you are an optimist, you are looking for the good in things.  This outlook enables YOU to decide if you are happy, not the incident.  You paint the incident with your own ideas.  No matter what the situation, you get to pick the good and bad of it by only concerning yourself with the things YOU can control.  Be in control.  Dont be the slave.  You choose your happiness!!:)
