There is something to the history of EVERYTHING out there.  I remember when I first started surfing, I would watch all the old movies.  I would want to ride the old style of boards and do the old moves.  Not because they were big boards or "easy" moves compared to the moves of today, but because it made whatever I was into seem much bigger than just a current hobby.  I was the same way with wrestling, and even with CrossFit.  There is something about the original days of the things we do.  There is a coolness about what people would wear, how people would move. how hard people would push, or the ways people did things.  For CrossFit, you don't have to go back very far.  I know that there are may Crossfitters that really don't even know much about the original CrossFit Games.  No this doesn't have any bearing on the chance for them to increase their fitness, but as I stated above, it gives the "kool-aid" you are drinking some definite depth and understanding.  Plus its just where the really cool shit is.  Like they say, there's no school like the OLD SKOOL!  So if you get the chance, watch some of the old Crossfit Games videos, as in 2007 and 2008.  Wathc some old Oly Lifting like from the Olympics.  Watch some old gymnastics and old track events.  Gain an understanding about how they were able to do what they did way back then and how far the sport has come.  Its just so damn cool!!  :)
