Do you let yourself just go brain dead when you work out?  Sure, there is definitiely a theraputic element to these crazy things we do.  You can just put your head down and sweat.  But to really get the most ou of the workout, you need to use your head.  I dont mean that you need to have heavy mathmatics happening in your head while you are breathing at a high rate.  What i mean is that you need to figure out what will be the most efficient way for you to go as far, go as fast, go as heavy, or go as high as you possibly can.  This takes understanding your body and how it is feeling and then knowing it well enough to feel when you should speed up or slow down.  There is a method to this.  It comes from testing it on a daily basis.  When you are here, you get to see how you respond when you do this or when you do that.  You get to gather data on how your body responds to different length workouts, heavy versus light weights, high reps versus low reps.  As you gather this info you will figure out where you can push and where you should reign it in a little.  Basically what im saying is that you can be a dumb jock but you cant be a dumb athlete.  The mor eyou know about you and what your nbody can do, the more things you wil be able to accomplish!:)
