What does maxium effort mean to you?  Yesterday we did thrusters which should have put you to your maximum effort, or the met con which also called for max effort.  In simplist terms, maximum effort means you go until you absolutely can not do another one or do more.  This sounds ike a pretty easy concept but its very difficult.  Not because its hard to understand, but because to get to your absolutely maximum you need to endure discomfort.  In a workout, this discomfort can be burning muscles, a dizzy head, a gasping breath, your head telling you to put the bar down or to stop, some mystery ache or pain that tries to make you slow down, an excuse, anything.  To get to max effort, you have to be able to shut these things out.  Its not easy.  But you can be trained to do it.  You have to test yourself to do it, regularly.  This doesnt mean every single time you come to the gym you should be crushing workouts.  It means that when you are called to do a max effort, to break through the pain.  It may be that YOU decide to break through and really push it once a week, or a couple times maybe.  But when you go for it, you really go for it.  Most people havent EVER come close enough to really do a max effort in anything.  I think it takes a special person to be able to push that far.  Are you one of those special people?  Do you want to be?  Then make it happen!  :)
