"As a coach i have a couple jobs when it comes to my athletes:  1) to give them a program that is going to improve their level of fitness, 2) try to push them closer and closer to proper movement and positioning so that they can get the most out of their lifts, 3) to mentally put them in the right place as often as possible so that they can perform better, and finally 4) to help them to move in the direction of their goals.  If you noticed, I didn't say to get them to their goals.  Part of this is because if someone asks me if they can win this event, or qualify for that competition, etc, it's not up to me to say whether or not they can or will.  It's only my job to say, "Let's get busy because we have work to do." I would never tell someone that something CAN'T be done.  I would never tell someone that they can't achieve this or that.  I can help get them on the path and then its all on them to achieve the dream.  Maybe some would say that it's not good to be unrealistic, or give false hope to people.  But I would say that if at anytime you set the bar low, or if the person following your lead feels that you don't have faith in them, then they will not perform.  Period.  I always believe in "possibility" because I have seen it happen WAY too many times.  So dream big and ill be there to help give you the best stuff to get you there", hopefully, says any coach you choose to follow!!   :)
