Have you ever heard of work-life balance?  People talk about it all the time.  I really do think its very important to have a true work-life balance because it allows you to break from the hard work you are doing and either bring joy into your world by doing the things you love or by not missing some of the amazing things that happen throughout life.  However, i do think that many times people use the idea of work-life balance as an excuse to not work hard, or at least put a limit on the work they do.  There are many ways to create a work -life balance by mostly being more efficient with your world.  There is a matter of scheduling, organizing, not procrastinating, but prioritizing in such a way that you still are putting the appropriate amount of time into the work and still being able to do the things you love to do.  The way Americans are supposed to work is from sun-up to WAY past sun-down.  There is a sense of pride when you work hard, especially if you own your own business, but I guess like everything, more isn't better.  Better is better.  Back in the day, I LOVED to surf.  I really couldn't imagine not doing it.  But once I started doing the gym thing, surfing hasn't taken a back seat but has literally been left on the racks in my garage.  I have been told that I need to get back in the water and that it will actually make all the other parts of my life better.  I don't disagree with this.  However, just because I'm not surfing doesn't mean I'm not enjoying other parts of my life.  I have many things happening at one time and it's up to me to decide where I will put all the different chunks of my time.  I choose to put my kids time first.  I will want to spend time with them before I chose to go surfing by myself.  If I can get them to the beach and go surfing, then sure, let's do it!  But this is how I prioritize.  Next is my job.  As a gym owner, I can ALWAYS find some work that needs to be done so that's easy.  After that would be the time I use for my other coaching, seminar and commentary events.  Finally is my training and working out.  I love all of these parts so to me it is a work-life balance.  Sure I'd love to go surfing but I'll decide to do that when I have a sliver of time outside of these other pieces.  How's your work-life balance?? :)
