Being a cocky douche bag means that you walk around thinking you are the shit all the time.  Most of the time, this is a cover up for whatever insecurities they might have.  We all know people that seem to need to tell everyone how awesome they are.  Yeah, I know. It's annoying.  HOWEVER, there is something to say about being about to celebrate the little successes in your world.  We all know how difficult life can be and all the struggles that might be floating around.  If you get caught up in all crap then you start to have a very negative outlook on the world.  This is a dangerous downward spiral.  To help fight against that, you should let yourself be stoked when the good things happen.  Were you able to complete a ton of work done today?  Did you get a 5# PR on a lift?  Did you make an amazing sandwich for lunch?  Did you sound good when you were signing in the shower?  These are all very subtle and personal things.  But this honestly is in the same vein as "stop and smell the flowers."  It's about appreciating the small things.  When you add up all those small things then there is a whole bunch of positive.  If you can spiral yourself upward, then it's a good day!  So give yourself a pat on the back for something you did today!  You deserve it!:)
