There's a word, tenacity, that when you look at the definition it's MUCH easier said than done.  Tenacity:  the quality of determination, to continue to exist.  We all like to think that we are tenacious.  That we are determined, that we are tireless, that we have stamina, that we won't stop for anything, especially when it comes to our goals.  The problem is, that for MOST, we all start whatever it is that we want to do with the best intentions of fighting all the way to the end.  But this doesn't always happen.  Many drive hard for a couple weeks then lose steam (remember your last diet attempt?).  Others can last for quite a while but then when it gets difficult or it isn't going the way they want, they quit.  If it's something you want, why would you stop??  The thing is that we all have WAY more in the tank that we think.  We truly can handle more than we think.  For most, when we feel like we are giving everything we have and we cant do anymore, we are actually sitting at about 90% capacity.  The discomfort we feel when we "give everything we have" is just that....discomfort.  Since many of us have never really had to learn how to push through this discomfort, this is usually where we stop.  But just imagine how much more you could do if you were able to pull another 10% out of everything you did!  In the game of life, those that can keep going are the winners.  So, if you are able to hang in there longer than the others, then you win!  How do you do this then?  I really think it's as simple as a little phrase: "one more rep."  Ok yeah, it sounds way to fitness dorkish, but I believe that this simple, understandable statement is enough to cut through all the whirlwind of the discomfort.  When things get bad, they get uncomfortable, they get unbearable....take a deep breath and tell yourself you can do ONE MORE REP.  Then put your head down and get right back to it.  You WILL be ok.  And each time you feel like its too much or you want to stop, then take that breath and tell yourself ONE MORE REP.  Each time you do this you move further and further than you ever would have before.  Be TENACIOUS! :)
