2018 and we are off.....FUCK "realistic" goals!  Yeah I know, what a way to start the new year off right?  A little too aggressive? Well, it's the start of a new year and the time when people give themselves goals to achieve.  And if you think about the ol' SMART goal acronym, the idea of setting achievable goals is so that you don't get bummed when you stop trying after 2 weeks. It's a low bar so that everyone can hit it.......BORING!!!! Guess what, I think goals should be LOFTY, UNBELIEVABLE, SKY-HIGH, and for some IMPOSSIBLE!!  Why?  Because for the vast majority of humans, they will shoot to hit just under wherever you set the bar.  If you set it low, then they will hit just below that, and that's already low.  If they get it, well congrats on the low-level goal.  But if you put it WAY up there, then if you shoot just below it, then you are WAY higher than you would have ever gone before.  And if you hit the goal, then you just did something that others said was impossible!  Elevated goals DO NOT set you up for failure.  They set you on a path.  There will be PLENTY of steps along the way that you can hit and get the feeling of success along the way.  But, they are just that stepping stones.  But we need to get out of the idea of thinking that we are supposed to just barely make it, to just barely achieve, to applaud the mediocre.  We are MADE to soar!!!  To Fly!!!  To Excel!!  But you need to put on your big kid pants and do it!!  And all the while, you should have a smile on your face because you are on the path to something amazing.  Don't even let the thought of failure happen.  Put the bar up high and then figure out all the steps you need to get there.  And start knocking them down one at a time.  See you at the top!!!  :)
