Life is ONE BIG ELEPHANT! Its a mountain of stuff that all NEEDs to be done right now. But how?? We are all impatient and want to get through all the things as fast as possible. But we can't get to step 5 until we finish steps 1,2,3 and 4. We talked earlier about the misunderstanding of multitasking and how it doesn't work. If you are trying to "eat the elephant" and you stuff steps 1,2,3, and 4 in your mouth at one time, you either won't be able to even chew it all or you'll choke on it. It doesn't work. But this isn't about trying to get it all done at once, but rather just standing on the floor of your GIANT ELEPHANT and trying to figure out how you are going to eat it. You can't stuff it all in your mouth at one time. You don't really know where to start, You try to figure out a strategy but you get lost in the all the data of which is the easiest part to eat to digest and which will be the most difficult. You think about all the bad things that might happen if you choke on the ear or not. And after all the deliberation, NOTHING has happened. The best way to "eat the elephant" is one bite at a time. The best time to start is right now. The best location to begin eating is right here in front of your face. Ok, enough about the elephant. It doesn't matter what we are talking about. The ONLY way to do anything, is one step at a time and to not kill yourself with a paralysis by analysis and not move. Take action. Right now. Sure give yourself a decent start with some thought but don't get lost in the swirl of thought. Take action. You can ALWAYs adjust on the way and you will so just get going. Put that bib on, grab your fork and knife, put your head down and get to eating, one bite at a time. You will finish it!! :)
