Humans are creatures of habit. We like our morning coffee, or we do the same thing at lunch time, or we like to come home and do the exact same thing every day we get back from work. When we warm up for an event we will do the same stuff. Even if we are setting up for a lift, there are certain steps we take that we do ALL the time. In our minds, we have these routines because at some point it either made us feel good or we had a successful day the day we used them. And once we find it, we will hold on to them with a death grip. It's our way of keeping positive "equilibrium" in our world. But just as these routines work for things like lifting, you should have a routine to start your day as well. Sure you will have to get a shower and eat, get dressed, etc. But I'm talking about a routine to start you off and get you ready for the day, mentally and positively. Many influencers talk about getting up a half hour early to do YOUR thing. Maybe its journalling, emailing, watching the sun come up, meditation, etc. All are good things. But you should keep these points in mind when you are planning what to do for your routine: 1) it should set your day off positive. We all have crap we have to do. Its tough at times but you don't want to dip into that the second you wake up. The voices in your head get VERY loud when you aren't awake yet. You have plenty of time to get to those things. Maybe do some deep breathing when its all quiet before everyone is up. Maybe it's using a journal to start of thinking about what you are grateful for. Maybe it's reading. Maybe it's hitting the positive affirmation quotes of the day. But it should make you feel happy as you start. 2) Doesn't have to be a habit or rut. It can be modified based on the day so you can still start off great even though its not the EXACT same thing you did yesterday. I like to do Wim Hoff Breathing while listening to the Revolutioner. It's a 12-minute thing. But sometimes I don't have the time so I end up doing deep breathing for 4-5 mins instead. I'll make it work. 3) Finally, realize this is for YOU. We all have people depending on us but if we aren't the best US we can be, then we can't be good for them. You deserve AT LEAST 15-30 minutes, right? Take them and make the most of them and start your day off right:)
