Yes, we all know I love the Rocky movies.  Well, it was on last night and I got sucked in as always.  It was Rocky, the first one.  It's so DAMN GOOD!!!  But there was one part that caught my eye.  It was where Rocky is fighting Creed and its in the 14th round.  Apollo, who called out that he would drop Rocky in the 3rd round, and had not only been knocked down but hurt badly by Rocky, finally seemed to put it together and knocked Rocky hard to the ground.  The ref was counting and from his own corner, Rocky's trainer, Mick, says "Stay down kid.  Stay down."  Adrian finally makes her way to the arena and sees Rocky on the ground and drop her head in sadness that he is losing.  Rocky is rolling around and trying to gather his senses, looks at Mick, then looks back at Creed and fights to get himself back.  He makes his way back up with just a few seconds of counting left.  Apollo turns around and drops his celebratory hands down and looks at Rocky as if he is crazy for getting back up.  As it turns out, Rocky ends up losing the fight by a split decision.  BUT WHY DIDN'T ANYONE THINK THAT ROCKY COULD GET BACK UP OR SHOULD GET BACK UP!?!?!  Its because the VAST majority of people don't have that fight.  They don't have that grit.  They just don't have the BALLS to get back on their feet and keep fighting.  But the fight (no matter what that fight might be) isn't for anyone else other than themselves.  So many people give up on themselves so soon.  Sure it, the fight, the project, the business plan, the training, the (fill in the blank) is hard but the one person who should NEVER give up on you....is YOU!  All those around will say to stop because they either don't like you, or don't want anything bad to happen to you, or don't want you to feel any discomfort.  That's fine that THEY think this way for you.  But YOU can NEVER let yourself down like this.  We all have a Rocky in us.  It's a raw, unorthodox, dirty, mumbling fighter.  It's not clean and it's not pretty but it is where your grit, your passion, your fight lives.  Let your Rocky drive you through those tough times.  When your "Mick" says to stay down, look back at the prize and stand the fuck back up!  You might just be able to get a good hit on it and breaks its ribs!    :)

*this is a classic CrossFit lifting routine in which 1 rep is 1 power clean, 1 front squat, 1 push press to the back rack, 1 back squat, and 1 push press from the rear back to the front.  The rule is that you are NOT allowed to release the bar on the ground and it must be touch and go off the ground.  You CAN combine the squats and the push press.  You CAN NOT do a squat clean thruster.  Must stand up on the power clean.
