You know what stress is right?  We all have to deal with it on a daily and even hourly.  Usually when we think of stress its something really bad like divorce, or a problem at work, or money.  But stress can come from other things too.  things like injury, kids, busy schedules, sicknesses, amusement parks, and even workouts.  But the fact is that your body only understands stress as one thing:  STRESS.  It doesn't know the difference between a bad guy pointing a gun at you or if you have an argument with a loved one.  All it feels is a Cortisol response.  Cortisol is the stress hormone that helps you get into the "Fight or Flight" mode.  This is a very primal and NEEDED response because if your life is in danger, then your body needs to respond in a way that it can either protect its self or get the hell out of Dodge!  This is how the "system" was designed but the problem is that now we live in a world of stress.  And even the way we live our life makes stress a normal thing for us.  Which leads you into a constant state of Fight or Flight.  Sounds like a good thing except that when you are in this mode, then ALL other body functions get dropped in priority.  Recovery is now not important.  Digestion is now not important.  Sexual drive isn't important.  Fat loss isn't important.  Sleep isn't important. And being that all of these listed things are pretty important to us, we need to make sure we limit the amount of stress in our world or at least limiting the response to this stress  Now you can't change the things that happen all the time but you can change how you deal with them.  I have recently worked on some "quiet time" for my brain.  I take 10-15 to just close my eyes and breathe.  It sounds a little hippie-dippie but it does work.  Relax yourself and your mind.  When you feel stress, find a way to release it or not get bogged down by it.  Experiment with things to find out what works for you then use it!!  Go get your ZEN on!:)
