I hear this all the time..." don't take yourself so seriously!" How can this be a thing when I look around and I can't believe how sensitive EVERYONE one is about everything. No matter what is said, someone is offended. No matter what you say, you hurt someone's feelings. No matter what you do, you bother someone. And no matter what, people will talk shit about you. The reason they say to not take you take yourself so serious is so that you aren't putting unneeded and unwarranted stress on yourself. It takes the pressure of having to be "perfect" all the time off you. Think about it, it actually feels good to laugh at yourself and usually makes you feel pretty good when you do. There is a release! When there is this lack of stress and worry, there is the best opportunity for your best performance. You aren't worried about what others think or say. You don't care if someone laughs, or at least you don't immediately think that they are making fun of you or hating on you. Here in the gym, we put our scores up on the board for EVERYONE to see. This isn't so that people can make fun of you. And of the many reasons, one of them is so that you get "practice" putting yourself out there without any fear or worry about what or if anyone says anything about it. Some might call it developing tough skin. But I choose to call it developing inner strength. As a society, we have lost this. We need this inner strength so that we can make it through life. Our guide has to be ourselves, not the comments everyone else makes. The fact is you will ALWAYS have people talking shit about you. So why worry if they will or not. Don't waste that time or energy. Use that inner strength you have developed to make the things you want to have happen happen without any fear or worry about what others say. It's your move:)
