There has always been the discussion between the ideas of doing more versus doing better and which is best for getting the best results. In a world of bigger and more and more and more, it seems very apparent that having more would be better. If you look in the fitness world, this idea is used a ton as well. If I get results by doing some cardio, then doing more is better for me. If I lose some weight by restricting some calories, then doing more of that is better. If I get stronger by adding more weight, then adding, even more, will get me even stronger. But its not always an "if-then" equation. In fact, usually when you add more to it, then the quality of what you are doing become less and less. Sure doing more cardio will help you to burn more calories. But how about taking the one cardio piece you had originally and seriously doing it as hard as you possibly can. The idea would be that you wouldn't want to/be able to/or need to do any more cardio sessions that day. You would have maximized the benefits out of it. And honestly, if you pushed super hard then you would have other added benefits like some strength and muscle tone gains! What about doing more weight? Yes, increasing weight will get you stronger but if you lose the intensity piece then all of a sudden you are back to walking around for 5 minutes between reps because you simply can't move it. How about you put the weight where its supposed to be for you to get the desired result and move it as fast as you can! You will get the strength benefits. Maybe not 1RM gains, but be able to crush 80-90% for reps all days! This is a more functional strength, a more competitive CrossFit strength, AND you get the cardio benefits on top of it. More is NOT always better. But better is ALWAYS better. You have to trust this in all areas of your world. I really haven't seen it not be the case anywhere. Well, I guess maybe more money is good because it kinda hard to have better money....but you know what I'm saying! :)
