I have seen a bunch of posts about "acceptance" lately.  I'm not talking about acceptance of others but more in the realm of "Self-acceptance".  The idea would be that you are taking a true hard look at yourself and "accepting" who and what you are.  You are snubbing your nose at what others think you should be or what you should be doing.  And I agree with the importance of this because you shouldn't really give a shit about what others think.  And when you accept YOU, then you have protection from others.  You beat them to the punch of what they might be, or are already, saying.  But I don't see acceptance as a stopping point.  It's a starting point.  I think its IMPERATIVE that you know EXACTLY where you are at that moment; the good points and the bad points.  This way you can figure out your best path to accomplish whatever it is you want to accomplish.   We all have been put here to do something amazing.  But the only way we can get on the path to do that is to understand our true deck of cards.  When you ACCEPT your issues, then you can figure out a plan to work around them, fix them, minimize them, or change them.  If its a workout and you are good at gymnastics but not very strong, then you need to make your move on the gymnastic part so that you have time to work through the lifting part.  If its a job task at work, and you are bad at paperwork but are skilled at the operational stuff, then maybe you can get someone to help you or oversee them in the paperwork park so that it gets done quickly and correctly and you are able to put the operation to work.    If its a relationship and you are good at "doing for" the other but not very good at communicating, then you need to find a way to constantly communicate your world with them.  Maybe its a reminder on your phone a couple times a day to nudge you in the habit to chat it up with them about your world and the things you have going on.  But the ONLY way these things will happen is when you ACCEPT your current position, your true honest position, and then figure out the plan to move forward.  The acceptance is just the starting point.  Don't fall into the "that's just the way it is: a frame of mind.  Make it what you want it to be! :)
