"But What if......" this comment is one of the most damaging comments one can say. It sounds initially like a good protective comment or thought. Like its a chance for you to evaluate the situation and come up with the best plan of action and you look at the pros and cons. But mostly what it is is your brain kicking out the most negative ideas it can come up with to STOP you dead in your tracks and NOT do whatever it is you are about to do. Yes, consequences are important to think about, but you have "overprotective" wiring in your brain that will be activated whenever there is a risk involved. This self-protection can completely stop you from doing ANYTHING if you let it. It won't pick between what is ok and what is not save. It will see there is risk and start to alert. Why do you think we never ask "what if......" and then add a positive thing in there. What if I find a million dollars! What if I do win the event! What if she does say yes! What if she has a great time!! These are all just as possible as the negative thoughts you can come up with but the outcomes are MUCH more pleasurable. Basically, there isn't any need for concern. Would you be "worried" about finding a million dollars? I know I wouldn't. You need to work to silence these irrational and negative voices whenever possible. Again, yes you look at the pros and cons of a situation but don't let the extreme illogical voices take over. Keep them quiet and work to stop yourself if you start to hear them creeping in. I mean just think....WHAT IF you never let yourself have a negative thought....how amazing that would be!! :)
